Veterinary Surgery at Jefferson Veterinary Hospital

Surgical Suite in Brunswick Veterinary Clinic, Brunswick MD. Veterinarians perform surgeries from spay and neuter, exploratory surgery, to TPLO and cruciate surgery

Jefferson Veterinary Hospital performs hundreds of surgeries on cats, kittens, dogs and puppies each year. Veterinary surgeries range from spays and neuters, soft tissue surgery, oncological surgeries, exploratory surgeries to remove foreign bodies to more complex surgeries such as cholecystectomy in cases of dogs with gallbladder disease to  orthopedic surgeries, including tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) on larger dogs that have ruptured or torn their cranial cruciate ligament (CCL, similar to an ACL in humans) when a board certified veterinary surgeon will come to Jefferson Veterinary Hospital to operate on the patient.  Many pet owners are also opting to include stem cell therapy or platelet rich plasma injection therapy during their pets surgical procedure to help speed up the healing time.

We never undertake surgery lightly. If your pet does need surgery, you can rest assured that veterinarian Dr. Ahalt has decades of successful surgical experience that he draws upon when performing surgical procedures on cats and dogs.  From elective procedures, advanced surgeries and emergency surgery, Dr. Ahalt will work closely with you to make sure that you understand the procedure that you pet will undergo.  He will walk you through the diagnostic plan before, during, and after surgery.

Your pet’s comfort is one of our top priorities during their surgery and they will be assigned their very own veterinary technician, who will be with them throughout the entire surgical process, from induction to recovery to discharge. Your pet’s surgery will be conducted by one of our experienced veterinarians in one of our two state of the art surgical suites.  Your pet’s veterinary technician will be with them when he or she wakes up to help keep them calm, comfort them and closely monitor them during their recovery period until they are placed back in your arms.

We’ve been to many veterinarians in the area and Dr. Ahalt is the best in the business hands down. Our dog just had orthopedic surgery on her leg and we weren’t sure if it was repairable. Dr. Ahalt is an animal lover and our young dog is running around like nothing ever happened. If you want a vet you can put total confidence in then you need to go see Dr. Ahalt.
